Tours

Every route we run, with the hours on it

Eighty itineraries, grouped by how long they take and where they start. Each one carries the driving time, the group size, the finish time and what it does not include.

Choose by time

Seven groups, and how to pick one

The quickest way to narrow eighty itineraries is by the time you have, not by the places you want. Three days in Saigon between meetings and three weeks with an open return are different problems, and the trips that suit them barely overlap.

Our rules

What every tour page on this site has to tell you

The finish time
Not "afternoon". A time. If the delta day gets back at 19:30 in traffic, that is what the page says.
The driving
Hours in the vehicle per day, stated separately from hours on your feet, because those are the two things that decide whether a route suits your party.
The group size
The cap on a set departure, and the vehicle used at each party size on a private trip.
Who it does not suit
Every itinerary has a paragraph saying who should book something else. It is the most useful paragraph on the page.

Two ways to travel

Set departure or private

A set-departure day tour costs less and caps at twelve people. You share the vehicle and the guide, the timings are fixed, and it is the sensible way to do Cu Chi or a delta day if you are one or two people.

A private trip is your own car, driver and guide. On a multi-day route this is what we quote by default, because the moment a trip has three or more moving parts the flexibility is worth more than the saving. For two people a private week typically runs 35 to 60 per cent more than the same route shared; for four it is usually close to level, and for six it is often cheaper per head.

Party sizeVehicle on a private routeTypical per-person premium vs shared
1-24-seat sedan+35-60%
3-47-seat SUV or minivan+5-20%
5-716-seat minibusroughly level
8-1429-seat coachusually below shared

Money

Prices, and what moves them

Every price on this site is a from-price at the lowest party size that route is sold at, in US dollars, and it always states the hotel standard it assumes. Four things move a quote: the season, the hotel tier, the number of internal flights, and whether you want a guide every day or only where one earns their keep.

  • Season: high season on the coast (January to March, July, and the fortnight around Christmas) adds 15 to 30 per cent to hotel lines, not to our fee.
  • Hotel tier: we quote at three tiers and show them side by side. The gap between tier two and tier three is usually larger than travellers expect and rarely changes the trip.
  • Internal flights: Saigon to Da Nang or Hanoi are cheap and quick and save a night of driving; booking them late is what makes them expensive.
  • Guiding: a guide in Hue and at Angkor is worth every dollar. A guide walking you around Hoi An old town for three days is not, and we will say so.
What is never in a price

Visas, travel insurance, drinks, and tips. We do not build a service charge into a round number and call it included.

Booking

Booking, deposits and what happens if you change your mind

A day tour is confirmed by message. Every trip, day tour or multi-day route, takes a 35 per cent deposit to confirm, 50 per cent no later than 30 days before you arrive and the final 15 per cent no later than 7 days before; booked inside 30 days, 85 per cent is due at confirmation, and inside 7 days the full price. Cancel more than 45 days out and you lose only what has genuinely been committed to suppliers, itemised — not a flat percentage of the whole trip.

Moving a trip is easier than cancelling it, and for anything more than 30 days out we will move it once without a fee. What we cannot move without cost is a non-refundable internal flight or a boat cabin in peak season, and those are flagged on your quote before you pay anything.

Common questions

Questions travellers ask most

Can I change an itinerary on this site?

Yes, and most people do. Treat any route here as a first draft: tell us which two days you would swap and we will send a revised day-by-day, usually the same working day.

Do you sell fixed-departure group tours with strangers?

Only for day trips out of Ho Chi Minh City, capped at twelve. Multi-day routes are private. We would rather not run a coach of thirty people around the country and neither would you.

Are entrance fees included?

On day tours, yes, and the page lists which ones. On multi-day routes the main sites are included and the optional ones are listed separately with their prices, so you can decide on the day rather than pre-paying for a museum you may skip.

What if my flight is delayed and I miss the start?

Tell the 24/7 number and we rebuild the first day around your actual arrival. On a private trip that usually costs nothing; on a set-departure day tour we move you to the next available date.
